Battersea Power Station Poster

Battersea Power Station, the brick cathedral of power that sat derelict for forty years, hand-painted in watercolour by Jen Russell-Smith.

One of the world's largest brick buildings, designed by the architect behind the red telephone box, its four chimneys became a London icon and a Pink Floyd album cover, complete with an inflatable pig that broke loose mid-shoot and drifted into the Heathrow flight path. After it stopped generating power in 1983 it stood empty for nearly four decades before reopening in 2022.
